Our Story
An employee-owned, $137 million travel
service company specializing in government, corporate and leisure
travel, CI Travel is the Hampton Roads' expert for all things
travel, from custom vacation packages, luxury cruises and
honeymoons to business meetings, conferences and tours. The
company's well-traveled destination specialists rely on a
combination of personal experience and professional know-how to
offer advice and come up with ideas to save you both time and
money.
CI Travel's beginnings go back to 1972 when Richard O'Leary
founded Cruise International, a pioneer cruise program
headquartered in Norfolk, Va., designed to handle all facets of the
cruise industry. Initially, the company booked and promoted cruises
from Boston, Philadelphia, Wilmington and Charleston, as well as
several other East Coast and Gulf Port locations.
Before long, the cruise company morphed into a full-service
travel agency created to handle all its customers' travel needs. In
addition to expanding its leisure offerings, CI Travel developed
the first business travel program in Hampton Roads.
Over the years, CI has been recognized by both Travel Weekly and
Business Travel News as one of the top travel agencies in the
country. Regionally, it has consistently been voted tops in The
Virginian-Pilot's Best of Hampton Roads' competition and among the
best of the Reader's Choice winners cited on the Peninsula in the
Daily Press and in the Northern Neck's Rappahannock Record.
Today, the company's focus on consistently delivering
high-quality travel services to government agencies, corporations
and vacationers, throughout the United States.
