CI Travel is an employee-owned $170 million travel service company with over thirty-five years of experience providing high quality travel
service to government agencies, corporations, and leisure travelers. CI Travel is by far the area’s number one agency for tours, cruises, and
custom travel packaging and has been recognized by both Travel Weekly and Business Travel News as one of the top travel companies in the
country. The company has 212 employee/owners at 32 branch offices in 11 states and is headed by Kevin McElroy, President and COO.
CI Travel began as Cruise International in 1972. Founder Richard D. O’Leary pioneered the Norfolk cruise program and created Cruise
International to handle all facets of the cruise industry from marketing to sales and reservations, for cruises from Boston, Philadelphia,
Wilmington, NC, Charleston and several other East Coast and Gulf Port locations.
A few years later, the full service travel agency known as CI Travel was created to handle all of the travel needs of its customers, and was
the first area agency to develop a business travel program.
Today, the focus of the company's business is the consistent delivery of excellence in all aspects of service to clients. Handling a
traveler¹s every need from vacation packages to land tours and, of course, cruises, CI Travel also has a long and proud history of handling
Corporate and Government travel. Some of the company's top clients for corporate travel management are Dollar Tree Stores, Inc, Trader
Publishing, the Admirals, Joy Global, PH Mining, Old Dominion University and the Norfolk Tides. For 20 years, CI Travel has
managed travel for a number of high-profile government contracts. Some of the company's current clients include the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration, NATO, the cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton and Portsmouth, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB) and Hickam AFB.
