New Requirements for Travelers Between the United States and the Western Hemisphere
New Requirements for Travelers between the United States and the Western Hemisphere
Under terms of proposed new regulations, as of January 8, 2007, travelers will have to have a passport or "other
accepted document" to enter or re-enter the
U.S. by air or sea from the Caribbean, Bermuda and Central and South America, in addition to current regulations
requiring passports for other international
travel. By the end of 2007, the new requirements will apply to land crossings too. On October 4, 2006, the U.S.
Government extended the passport deadline for
sea travel to the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico to June 1, 2009.
The proposed rules for the different phase-in dates will be finalized over the coming months, but regardless of the timeframe, by
January 1, 2008, all Americans departing and returning to the United States will be required to have a valid U.S. passport. If you
dont already have a passport you should consider applying now as there will undoubtedly be a backlog in getting passports as these
rules take effect. For information
on obtaining or renewing a passport, visit theState Departments Web site at:

How does the debarkation process work (getting off the ship)?
The night before arriving back in Norfolk, passengers will be asked to place all luggage outside their cabin door.

customs, the luggage will be arranged on the dock in rows according to a color-coded tag system. Guests, who will be asked to
debark the ship by tag color, will proceed to the luggage area to retrieve their luggage.
